Google launched their AI and immediately it was causing havoc for Google and became the number one source of political outrage and controversy, not to mention allegedly wiping $90 billion off their stock price.

This is what happens when you inject your political views into everything regardless of practicality or reason. If you haven’t seen well this may sound like a joke but I’m deadly serious. Gemini(Googles name for their AI) was completely unable to generate white people in its images and injected diversity into everything, and I really mean everything. An African American male at the signing of the declaration of independence, a picture of your average American family hell even an image someone requested of Viking Europe.

The image generation isn’t the only problem Gemini is having. A clip going viral of popular Youtuber and political commentator Tim Pool being mixed up with another Tim Pool who is a pilot and then Gemini creating completely fabricated stories along with news articles accusing him of felonies loosely related to journalism work Tim worked on.

This is where I have a huge issue with AI, all of the current mainstream AI models have been created by lets be honest far left leaning corporations. Whatever your political leanings are the fact that these tools are being programmed at their core to give a certain point of view essentially negates one of their most powerful features, the ability to correlate information. If a certain news organisation is deemed incorrect by the programmers due to political bias and isn’t included in the list of approved sources then you could miss vitally important information, again weather you agree with it or not. Objective truth matters, especially when it can affect elections.

The Subversion of Objectivity

At its core, AI is revered for its ability to process and analyze data at scales and speeds unattainable by humans. This capability is the cornerstone of its utility in making informed, objective decisions. Introducing political biases into AI systems subverts this objectivity, transforming these tools from neutral arbitrators of information to purveyors of skewed perspectives. This not only undermines the trust in AI-powered systems but also in the institutions that deploy them, eroding public confidence in technology as a force for good.

The Amplification of Echo Chambers

The internet has been criticized for creating ‘echo chambers’ and ‘filter bubbles’, where users are insulated from diverse viewpoints. Programming political biases into AI can exacerbate this phenomenon, as algorithms could further curate and present content that reinforces existing prejudices. This homogenization of thought not only stifles healthy debate and discourse but also polarizes societies, making consensus and common ground increasingly elusive.

This issue has become more prevalent in the past decade. Cancel culture is still a massive issue and without the reasonable discourse of being able to discuss ideas with an opposing viewpoint neither side grows and learns. We are on the cusp of a catastrophe where identity politics are winning and your personnel ideas or experiences dont matter, just what box you fit in.

The Erosion of Free Will

One of the more insidious effects of politically biased AI is its potential to manipulate public opinion and behaviour subtly. By selectively presenting information that aligns with certain political viewpoints, AI can shape perceptions and influence decisions unconsciously. This manipulation undermines the very essence of free will, a cornerstone of democratic societies, where informed and free choice is paramount.

Without access to all the information how can we make informed decisions. If you only follow certain people on X, YouTube or watch a specific news network your only ever going to get one side of the story and all your decisions are being manipulated by algorithms.

The Challenge of Accountability

Holding AI systems accountable for their decisions is already a complex issue, given their opaque decision-making processes, often referred to as the ‘black box’ problem. Introducing political biases adds another layer of complexity, making it even more challenging to discern whether decisions are made based on merit or political leanings. This opacity can lead to a lack of accountability, where errors or biases in AI systems are difficult to detect, let alone rectify.

The Path Forward

The integration of political biases into AI is not an inevitability but a choice. As stewards of this powerful technology, it is incumbent upon developers, policymakers, and society at large to steer AI development towards ethical, unbiased, and transparent practices. This includes rigorous bias detection and mitigation strategies, the development of ethical AI frameworks, and fostering a culture of accountability among AI practitioners.

Moreover, public discourse on the ethical use of AI must be encouraged, ensuring that a diverse array of voices and perspectives are heard. By doing so, we can harness the immense potential of AI while safeguarding the democratic values and societal norms that we hold dear.

AI can easily be our downfall or our ascension as a species. It needs to be used in ethical and unbiased ways. AI in its current form could honestly be the most powerful and dangerous weapon humanity has ever created and at the moment its being utilised against people by far left zealots. AI should not be the next political battleground, its so much more important than that and where its going right now could be the beginning of the end of what we call freedom and free will.

WE MUST FIGHT AGAINST IT.
